In Psalms 24:1 it’s clear that everything on the earth is God’s:

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.”

If you own a possession, then you control it, right? God is powerful and could use us as puppets to carry out His will, but that is not what He has done. With His caring personality, He has given us the power of choice and wants us to choose to listen to Him because He wants a relationship with us. Giving us the power to decide how to spend His money (it’s not really ours!) is a big blessing and responsibility, but how often have you wasted His money? Intentions to give money to missionaries are great, but you have to act upon your ideas.

How to Commit Your Finances to God

What does it mean to commit your finances to God? How this is carried out will be a little different for everyone, but it’s based on keeping God as the number-one priority and having faith in the blood of Jesus. Set aside the amount you will give back to God first and ask for the wisdom of God to lead you in how to spend the rest. What if you are living outside of your means, and you seem to have more bills than the paycheck? God doesn’t give a prerequisite in order to commit your finances to Him. He longs for you to start immediately, and the rest has already been taken care of. God works are not mysterious. God delivers in time of need and He keeps His promises. He can pay off debt quicker than you. He can also set steps in motion to bring your dreams to reality.

God Opens Doors

Ask God to guide you as you change your views on money so that your heart and mind begin realizing new truths about money. God doesn’t value you for the amount of money you make. He values what in your heart, your words and your actions. As you place your faith in what the Blood of Jesus did for you, you become responsible with what has been entrusted to you. More opportunities will open to you.

Deuteronomy 8:18 states “Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” God will give you the tools to make wise decisions, whether it’s sending you to college or connecting you to Godly people who can help shape your mind. There are no limits in Him!

Seated In Him,

Shevon L. Sampson
